Surrender

Blackjack is a popular casino game. The game is well known and can be easily played. Blackjack is played following standard rules all over the world. Yet the rules may vary slightly from casino to casino. The rules can be modified at particular casino tables. Hence the player must understand the basic rules and also the variants of rules which a casino may impose. One of these variants is the ability to use surrender, or surrendering as it may be called.

There are several terms associated with this play. Surrender is of three types - early surrender, late surrender and surrender any time. Out of these most casinos support late surrender. But there are casinos supporting early surrender and surrender anytime.

Early Surrender

Early surrender is used when the dealer has an ace showing. There are only a few casinos that are supporting this. But as per the suggestion of experts this is an effective method for the players.

You can forfeit your hand by surrendering. You get an option to decide not to play your hand, in this case of surrender, thereby giving up. This is done when the player is almost sure of losing. When they find that the chances of losing are all but guaranteed, they will plan to reduce the amount of loss by half.

When you surrender, you are losing only half of what is expected. There by you cut short the chances of losing more money by reducing the bet to half rather than losing it in full.

Surrendering is done usually before the dealer takes additional cards. The dealer will have the two initial cards with him/her. They will next ask the player if they would like extra cards. In between this the surrendering is performed.

If the surrendering is performed soon after the initial cards are dealt, it will be referred to as an early surrender. Here the dealers will check for the blackjack only after the early surrender has been performed.

Late Surrender

If the surrender is performed after the dealer checks for the blackjack, it is referred to as late surrender. Here the players chance to play/or surrender will be after the dealer has completed his checking for the surrender, if any.

Here the player must decide to take the late surrender soon after the dealer has checked for a blackjack. This must be done before taking any additional cards.

Surrender any time is the most beneficial and flexible of all the surrenders. The player can surrender no matter whether they had more cards (a hit) of not. Here the count of the cards taken by the player has no effect on performing surrender.

Surrender is usually taken for the benefit of the player. They can reduce their loss amount if the rule to surrender is in effect. The rule on which surrender is to be performed is solely dependent on the casino rules. But if the player is ready to take surrender, he can reduce the bet amount to half.

Free Tip: Try and play at a casino that offers early and late surrender if possible.
