Blackjack is a wonderful gambling game played in casinos online and offline. The game usually follows a basic strategy and rules .The strategies are simple mathematical logic which can be used by the player to win the game. But there are cases where the dealers always wins and the players lose constantly. This is because of several mistakes that are usually committed by the players whilst playing the game.

Wrong Strategy

There are players who try to follow the dealer’s strategy. Then they forget the basic rule that if the player always hits for 21 and the dealer continues to bust, the player will surely lose.

Wrong decision

If the player has a card total (hard)17, They should think of stopping here without hitting any more. This is a wise strategy when the dealer is showing a 9, 10 or ace, or any card in fact. The strategy must be that the player must stop hitting if the card shown by the dealer is 9, 10 or ace,or any card, when the player has a (soft) 18 also.

If the player has a (soft) 17 rather than a (hard )17, the player must never decide to stand. That is they must continue hitting if they have a (soft) 17 with them.

Many inexperienced players will stop hitting on a (soft)17, yet will hit on a (soft)18, or hit on a (hard)17, this is a mistake. Just because the dealer is showing a high card (9,10,A) etc, dose not mean you must keep hitting. Sometimes the dealer will bust anyway, and sometimes the dealer will win. You cannot win every hand at blackjack!

Some players often make mistakes when they play blackjack because they don't understand the correct play properly. It is not advisable to hit when the dealer is showing a weak card of 2 through 6. The player must never think that they have a weak hand also and plan to hit in a situation like this.

If a player has a total of 12 (for example) with their first two cards and the dealer is showing a 5, then it is wise to not hit any more cards.The dealer is most likely to bust when they show a low card.

To Split or not to Split, Insurance, Doubling

There are players who plan to split when they have 2 cards of ten value with them. They feel that they will have a good chance of doubling their money here and will win with two hands. But they have to understand the play. They must realize that one hand of twenty has more chance of winning than going for a split of two tens.

Many players try to get insurance when they feel that they are going to lose the hand. They will try to win money on losing to a dealers blackjack. They forget the fact that they are going to lose much more money in the long run. The case is that they must pass on insurance or even money when offered by the dealer, as the casino offers very bad odds on the bet. Your short term gain is a long term loss.

Most novice players won’t understand the relevance of doubling in blackjack. They will try to hit instead. It is advisable to double on soft cards(dealer card). When the dealer shows a weak card, if the player is doubling, they have a great chance of winning more money in the long run. A blackjack strategy card/guide is handy to refer to to if there is any doubt by the player on when they should double.

If a player is trying to double though when they are FEELING that they are going to win, this is a mistake. If they try to double at this moment for no other reason, the chances that they will lose are high. So never double at the point where you feel you are going to win, for it will increase your loss.

To reduce the chances of losing at blackjack the player must understand the game properly. They have to make it a point and remember that the rules can vary from place to place and from casino to casino. They must realize the importance of using blackjack strategies at the right place and time rather than to blindly follow them as tips for success.
