Blackjack is an interesting gambling game played in casinos and increasingly online. The game is gaining high popularity and has been constantly evolving ever since it originated in France. The game has different rules in different places and casinos, though the basic rule is the same in all places. The standard rules and card values remain the same throughout.

High Cards

The game is played using cards. The cards are in 52- card decks.There are 4 suits. There are thirteen cards in each suit. There will be printed symbols on the card for each suit. The card values vary greatly.

The value of Jack, King or Queen is 10 (as is the 10 card), whereas the number cards have the numbers as their values. The Ace card can have a value which can be either be 1 or 11 which is dependent on the player’s decision at the time of playing.

The most important thing a player has to understand is that the suit of any card has no great importance and it is the card value and the value of the hand that really matters. The player has to get a card value greater than the dealer. But at the same time, the player must never bust in their attempt to get this high card value. That is their card value must never cross twenty one.

The Ace (the highest value card) will help the player in many ways. The greatest advantage is that it can change value according to the situation. If the card needs a value of one to prevent the player from busting, this is possible, other wise the ace is given a value of 11.

Another high value is for ten. They are the highest value cards. They are larger in number with a total count of 16 in a 52 card deck. They are critical elements in dealing with a hand. They can give a total of 21 when they are coupled with an ace.

Low Cards

Small value cards are important not so much as in the players hand, but rather when the dealer shows a small value card such as a 2,3,4,5 or a 6. Players can then stand on a lower total themselves as the dealer has a higher chance of busting when they hold one of these cards.

A player may also double or split their hand in this situation to increase their winnings on their hand. Blackjack is mostly based on the right decision taken by the player. They can implement basic strategies to help them to win, based on the values of the cards.

But strategies are not to be followed blindly, as a blind following of basic strategy won’t bring any sort of advantage to the player. The players can use their logic to know how to act in a situation, given the value of the cards at any given time.

They must keep a keen observation on the point that the value of their hand should never cross 21. They can hit, stand, double or split based on the situational demands,and values of the cards in front of them and the dealer.
